My new found knowledge of who God is gave me a whole different perspective of his character. Our God is not just the judge I made him out to be. He is so much more. He is our provider, our protector, our strength. Our light in this dark world. But most of all, He is love.
Unconditional love.
"No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:37-39
Nothing we can say, nothing we can do will stop God from loving us. His love is deep and eternal. His love is full of grace and forgiveness. His love is the source of our love for others. He never gives up on us no matter our mess ups. I now know that I can come back to God, no matter the mistake I made, and He is there waiting, full of grace to tell me it's going to be okay.
It's hard to fathom a love like that. But then I think of my children. I would do anything to protect them, anything to shield them from the disappointments of this world. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about how full they make my heart. Now envision our God who loves us immeasurably more than that.
Can you imagine a world that loved like God does? What a beautiful and peaceful place it would be.
